Cambridge, MA – Between June 10-12, 2016, over 150 middle and high school girls of color from across the Greater Boston area will gather at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to take part in the 10th Annual Blueprint Conference for Girls. The Blueprint Conference, hosted by the Boston Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College, will feature a full schedule of workshops, panel discussions and interactive presentations focused on empowerment, entrepreneurship and technology.
Conference organizers have planned for the two and a half-day event to serve as an open and candid forum in which young women will engage in honest dialogue about issues concerning their overall well-being and self awareness of their passions and purpose. “The best advice I’ve received, and I give, is to focus on being the best you. Controlling your brand ultimately lets you control your destiny,” says Anna Foster, CEO of A Maven’s World and conference workshop facilitator. Engaging community stakeholders is at the center of the conference’s mission. The event will call on local women-entrepreneurs who are leaders in business and technology spaces. Conference workshops and panels will address a wide range of topics including mental and sexual health, networking, personal branding, public speaking and ideation. Kera Street, Harvard PhD candidate and president of the Boston Chapter of the Spelman College Alumnae Association says, “ Through this conference, we are working to present to girls what it’s like to not only be a business owner, but a world-changer.”

About the Blueprint Conference Established in March 2007, the mission of the Blueprint Conference is to expose young women in the Boston area to the sisterhood and strong social network that many Spelman alumnae have found key to their maturation and success as women. The conference seeks to empower these girls to create positive social change by reminding them that their opportunities are limitless.
The overarching concept for the conference is based on a Girls Group Curriculum created by Laina Cox, former Boston Public School teacher and assistant principal. The curriculum is based on her visits to other programs across the country and was implemented at the Harbor School in Boston.
