The 9th Annual Blueprint Conference for Girls was held on June 14th and 15th, 2015 at Simmons College. Nearly 100 girls, representing more than 40 schools, converged on the Boston campus to discuss how their voices can be activated within their community.
Conference attendees participated in workshops on self esteem, physical fitness, mental and sexual health. Saturday included a workshop on voter registration and civic engagement with Cheryl Clyburn Crawford, Executive Director of MassVOTE. On Sunday, participants heard from panelists Malia Lazou, Daunasia Yancey, and Jibria Greene on political activism and how they can be catalysts for change. The weekend included many serious and engaging topics while also allowing girls to connect, share their experiences, and bond over simple things, like a Zuumba workout.
We are thankful for all of our sponsors which included: Simmons College, MIT's Community Service Fund, The Boston Foundation, and countless individuals who sponsored their time AND money to support our young women.
As we approach year 10, we are planning for bigger and better things! The 10th Annual Blueprint Conference for Middle and High School Girls will be held on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's campus from June 10th through June 12th. Our theme for the year will be Entrepreneurship and will include workshops on personal branding and public speaking.
Anyone interested in supporting a young woman for this year's conference can take part in our online t-shirt fundraiser (https://teespring.com/blueprint-4-girls-fundraiser) or sponsor a girl directly through our sponsor-a-dream initiative (http://naascboston.weebly.com/sponsor-a-dream-indiv-donors.html).
Thank you for nine wonderful years! We can't wait for the next 10.
